# Rewrait

> Rewrait is an AI writing app for Mac and Windows. Select text in any app, press Cmd+Shift+P (Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows), and Rewrait rewrites it in place: clearer, more natural English in the tone you choose. It is built for professionals who write English as a second language, and it also drafts replies, turns dictation in Spanish, Portuguese, French, or German into English, and learns your corrections.

## Key facts

- Platforms: macOS 14.6 or later and Windows 10 or later. A native desktop app, not a browser extension or chat window.
- How it works: select text in Slack, Gmail, Outlook, Teams, Notion, a browser, or any editable field; press the shortcut; review the result next to your draft; replace it in place. Instant mode replaces directly with undo.
- Languages: type or dictate in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, or German and get the result in English, or keep the original language.
- Integrations: Notion, Confluence, and Google Docs, read-only, used as approved sources for team styles.
- Privacy: text is processed only when you run a rewrite; Rewrait and its AI providers do not train models on your text; rewrite history is off unless you turn it on; learning from corrections is opt-in and stores only the confirmed rule, never your text.
- Free trial: every new account gets 14 days of every feature with no card, then stays on the Free plan unless it upgrades.

## Capabilities

### Fix what you wrote

- Review before it replaces: See your draft and the new version side by side. Edit the result, try again, or replace your text in the app you were using.
- Instant rewrite: Skip the preview. One shortcut replaces your text with your default style, and Undo brings the original back.
- Warmer, shorter, more direct (Pro plan): Not quite the tone you want? Ask for a warmer, shorter, or more direct version of the same message.
- Keeps links and @mentions: Names, numbers, links, @mentions, and list formatting stay as you wrote them. Only the wording changes.

### Start from nothing

- Draft a reply: Open the email or chat you need to answer and run Draft Reply. Rewrait reads what’s on screen and writes a reply for you to review.
- Speak in your language: Dictate in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, or English. Choose a style that writes in English, or keep just the transcript.
- A blank page: Write or paste in Rewrait’s own editor, rewrite it, then insert it where you were typing or copy it.

### Make it yours

- Auto picks the style: Auto chooses a style that fits the app and the message, or Rewrait can remember your choice for each app.
- Your own styles: Save your instructions as a style, like “British spelling, no exclamation marks.” Or copy one from the community library.
- Learns your corrections: When you fix a result, Rewrait proposes a rule for next time. Learning is off until you turn it on, you confirm every rule, and only the rule is stored, never your text.
- Multi-step workflows (Pro plan): Chain steps into one shortcut: translate to English, make it shorter, then soften the tone.

### Bring your team

- Shared styles and sources (Team plan): Share styles with your team and let them follow your voice guide from Notion, Confluence, or Google Docs.

## Frequently asked questions

### How does Rewrait work?

Install the app for Mac or Windows and sign in. Select text you wrote in any app, then press Cmd+Shift+P on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows. Rewrait shows your draft and the new version side by side. Edit it if you like, then replace your text in the same place.

### Can I write in my own language and get English?

Yes. Type or dictate in Spanish, Portuguese, French, or German, and choose a style that writes in English. You see the English version before it goes into your message.

### How is this different from a grammar checker?

A grammar checker underlines mistakes. Rewrait rewrites the sentence when you ask, so it also fixes phrasing that is correct but sounds translated, too direct, or too formal. You choose the tone and approve every change.

### Which apps and computers does it work with?

Rewrait runs on macOS 14.6 or later and Windows 10 or later. It works with editable text in apps such as Slack, Gmail, Outlook, Teams, Notion, and browser fields. On Mac, allow Accessibility access so Rewrait can read and replace the text you select. Voice also needs microphone access. A few protected fields may need you to copy the result instead.

### Is my writing private?

Rewrait processes text only when you run a rewrite. Rewrait and its AI providers do not train models on your text, and rewrite history is off unless you turn it on. Text you try on this page is not stored.

### What happens after the free trial?

Every new account starts with 14 days of every feature, with no card required. After that, you stay on the Free plan with 30 rewrites a month unless you choose to upgrade. You are never charged automatically.

### Does Rewrait work in the apps my team already uses?

Yes. The Mac and Windows apps work anywhere you can select text: Slack, Gmail, Outlook, Zendesk, Intercom, Linear, HubSpot, VS Code, docs, and browser fields. Select the draft, press Cmd+Shift+P on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows, and pick a shortcut. Rewrait replaces the original where you were typing.

### Do you train AI models on our text?

No. Rewrait and its third-party models process submitted text only to return a rewrite. They do not train on it. Rewrite history is off by default, integration tokens are encrypted, and Notion, Confluence, and Google Docs connections are read-only. Team plans include a written no-training guarantee.

### Can a shortcut use our Notion style guide?

Yes. Team shortcuts can read approved Notion, Confluence, and Google Docs pages such as voice guides, support playbooks, and messaging docs. Workspace owners choose the sources, and access is read-only.

### Can I use Rewrait without selecting text?

Yes. Speak a rough draft in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, or German, then run the same shortcuts you use on selected text. You can dictate in your first language and ask Rewrait to write the result in English.

### Does Rewrait replace our existing tools?

No. Your team keeps writing in Slack, email, support desks, docs, CRMs, and browsers. Rewrait rewrites the draft where it sits.

### What does Rewrait cost for a team?

Team costs $20 per seat each month when billed annually, or $25 when billed monthly, and starts at 2 seats. It includes shared styles and workflows, approved sources from Notion, Confluence, and Google Docs, owner-managed billing, and a no-training guarantee. New accounts get a 14-day Team trial with no card required, then move to the Free plan unless upgraded.

### What should a team start with?

Start with a job people repeat every day: a customer reply, escalation summary, or renewal email. Connect the doc that sets the rules, share the shortcut, and run it from any app.

## Examples: correct English that still sounds foreign

- Translated word for word: “We remain attentive to any comment.” becomes “Let me know if you have any questions.” (From the Spanish “Quedamos atentos.”)
- A word that means something else: “Eventually we could do a call to align.” becomes “If it helps, we could have a quick call.” (In English, “eventually” means “in the end,” not “possibly.”)
- Clear, but too direct: “I need the report today.” becomes “Could you send me the report today?” (Normal in many languages. In English it can read as an order.)
- Too formal for chat: “Dear all, I kindly inform you that the server will be unavailable tonight.” becomes “Heads up: the server will be down tonight.” (Fine in a letter. Stiff in Slack.)
